Subdomains & multiple sites

One server can host many websites — several different domains, plus subdomains like blog.yoursite.com or shop.yoursite.com. Each one is just its own folder with its own address. Here’s how they fit together.

One server hosts multiple domains and subdomains, each with its own web root One server (OrbixPanel) yoursite.com blog.yoursite.com shop.yoursite.com another-site.com /yoursite.com /blog.yoursite.com /shop.yoursite.com /another-site.com each = its own web root

The idea

  • Each website is an isolated setup — its own folder (web root), its own vhost (the server’s rule for “serve this folder for this name”), and its own SSL certificate.
  • A subdomain (blog.yoursite.com) is a name under a domain you already own. It’s perfect for a blog, a shop, a docs site, or a staging. copy — without buying another domain.
  • A separate domain (another-site.com) is a whole different name; you can host it on the same server too.

Add another full website

  1. Create a website for the new domain.
  2. Point that domain’s A record at your server (Domains & DNS).
  3. Upload its files / install its app, then Request SSL. It’s completely independent of your other sites.

Add a subdomain

  1. Go to Subdomains → Add subdomain, pick the parent website and type the label (e.g. blog).
  2. OrbixPanel creates its own folder, a vhost, and the matching DNS record in one step.
  3. Put content in that folder (or deploy an app to it), and Request SSL.

Common uses

  • blog.yoursite.com — a WordPress blog alongside a static main site.
  • shop.yoursite.com — a store, separate from your marketing site.
  • staging.yoursite.com — a test copy to try changes before they go live.
  • api.yoursite.com — a backend API (Node/Python app).

Good to know: mixing types is fine on one server — a static main site, a WordPress blog subdomain, and a Node API subdomain can all live together. Each is just “a folder (or app) + a name + a certificate.”
